JEERA (Cuminum cyminum Linn., Jiraka)

Indigestion

3–6 g powder of fried jeera mixed with rock salt to be taken with warm water, thrice daily.

Diarrhoea / Dysentery

1–2 g powder of fried jeera to be taken with 250 ml buttermilk, four times daily.

Hyperacidity / Skin Diseases

5–10 g ghee boiled with jeera to be taken with rice during meals.

Cold

1–2 g powder of fried jeera to be taken with milk twice daily.

Cough (Dry or Productive)

Warm decoction prepared from:

  • Jeera – 2 g

  • Dhania – 5 g

  • Haldi – 1 g

  • Methi powder – 1 g

  • A little pepper

Take with honey or sugar and lemon, two to three times a day.
Alternatively, chewing a few jeera grains frequently also helps relieve cough.

🌿 JAYPHAL (Myristica fragrans Houtt., Jatiphala)

 1. Diarrhoea in Children

  • A pinch of Jayphal powder or the fruit rubbed on a clean surface with milk or water should be given 3–4 times a day.

  • Helps control loose motions and soothes the digestive system.

2. Irritability (in Children)

  • When the child is restless or irritable, 1–2 pinches of Jayphal powder mixed with milk acts as a mild natural sedative.

  • Can be administered 3–4 times a day as needed.

3. Black Pigmentation (especially in menopausal women)

  • Jayphal rubbed in milk and applied externally over pigmented facial areas helps lighten dark spots and improve skin tone.

4. Abdominal Pain (due to Diarrhoea)

  • 2 gm of Jayphal powder with warm water, taken 4–5 times a day, helps reduce intestinal motility and relieves abdominal pain.

🌿 HING (Ferula narthex Boiss., Hingu)

  • Regular use of Hing in daily diet improves digestion and relieves digestive disorders.

  • The best way to use is to fry Hing in a little ghee before adding it to food.

Skin AllergyDrink 10 ml fresh Haldi juice + 10 ml Amla juice, twice daily.

GHEE (Clarified Butter)

 Ghee is highly valued in Ayurveda as an anupana (vehicle or carrier) for various medicines. When used judiciously, it promotes both physical and psychological well-being.

🌿 Elaichi (Elettaria cardamomum Maton – Ela)

 Common Uses / Indications:

  • Hiccough

  • Diarrhoea / Vomiting

  • Cold

  • Cough


💊 Remedies & Dosage:

  1. For Hiccough, Vomiting, and Bad Breath:

    • Chew 1–2 Elaichi fruits frequently (not more than 4 per day).

  2. For Indigestion and Nausea:

    • Take 250–500 mg (≈¼–½ gm) of seed powder fried in ghee, thrice daily with honey.

  3. For Digestive Disorders:

    • Ash of Elaichi skin – 2 gm mixed with a little honey, 4–5 times a day.

  4. For Cold and Cough (Decoction):

    • Prepare a decoction using:

      • Dhania (Coriander) – 5 gm

      • Methi seeds – 1 gm

      • Turmeric powder – a pinch

    • Take 20 ml, 2–3 times daily.

  5. For Cough (Dry or Productive):

    • Mix a little Elaichi powder with 1 teaspoon of honey, 3–4 times daily.

    • Alternatively, chew Elaichi seeds (not more than 3 per day) frequently for relief.


🩺 Note:
Elaichi acts as a carminative, expectorant, and digestive stimulant. It helps clear phlegm, soothes the throat, and freshens breath naturally.

Coriander seeds are cooling, digestive, and soothing to the system. They are beneficial in common cold, cough, fever, and digestive disorders. Regular use helps purify the blood and maintain internal balance.
