How to Make Ayurvedic Hair Oil at Home

๐ŸŒฟMaking Ayurvedic hair oil allows you to customize ingredients according to your hair type and concerns (like hair fall, dandruff, dryness, or thinning). You can use herb mixes like Panchvati Herbals’ Dry Jadi Buti Mix, or source individual herbs.

๐Ÿ”ฅ Hot Infusion Method (Quick & Effective)

✅ Ingredients:

  • Carrier Oil: Coconut, sesame, or castor oil (cold-pressed preferred)

  • Herbs: Bhringraj, Amla, Brahmi, Neem, Hibiscus, Fenugreek (methi), Curry leaves, Tulsi, etc.

๐Ÿ“ Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Herbs:

    • Wash and dry the herbs completely to avoid moisture (which can spoil the oil).

    • Grind into a coarse paste or use powdered form.

    • Soak seeds like fenugreek for 30 minutes.

  2. Heat the Oil:

    • Pour the carrier oil into a thick-bottomed pan or kadai.

    • Warm it gently on low flame (don’t let it smoke).

  3. Infuse the Herbs:

    • Add the herb mix to the warm oil.

    • Stir gently and let it simmer for 15–20 minutes, until the herbs release aroma and change color.

  4. Cool & Strain:

    • Let the oil cool down completely.

    • Strain it using a muslin cloth or fine strainer.

  5. Store:

    • Transfer to a sterile glass bottle (preferably amber or cobalt-colored).

    • Store in a cool, dark place.

๐ŸŒŸ Best For:

  • Quick infusion with strong effects.

  • Immediate use after 1–2 days.

❄️ Cold Infusion Method (Slow but Potent)

✅ Ingredients:

  • Carrier Oil: Fractionated coconut oil, jojoba, or olive oil

  • Dry Herbs: Amla, Brahmi, Hibiscus, Fenugreek seeds, Neem, Marshmallow root, etc.

๐Ÿ“ Instructions:

  1. Combine Ingredients:

    • Fill a clean, dry glass jar with the herbs.

    • Pour in enough oil to fully submerge the herbs.

  2. Infuse Naturally:

    • Close the jar tightly.

    • Keep it in a sunny windowsill or warm spot for 2–4 weeks.

    • Shake gently or stir every 2–3 days.

  3. Strain & Add Antioxidant:

    • Strain the oil after the infusion period.

    • Add a few drops of Vitamin E oil to extend shelf life.

  4. Store:

    • Transfer to a dark, airtight glass bottle.

    • Keep away from heat and light.

๐ŸŒŸ Best For:

  • More stable oil, ideal for long-term storage.
